“A monumental presence” – Cate Blanchett dedicates her BAFTA win to the late, great Philip Seymour Hoffman

"Phil buddy, this is for you ya bastard, I hope you're proud."

“Phil buddy, this is for you ya bastard, I hope you’re proud.”

A classy Cate Blanchett made a very cool and very moving speech about her good friend Philip Seymour Hoffman at the 2014 BAFTA Film Awards last night, as she collected the award for Leading Actress.

The stunning actress was accepting her deserved award for her portrayal of Jasmine Francis, an alcoholic New York socialite who’s life takes a turn for the worse in Woody Allen’s 2013 film, Blue Jasmine.

Watch as one of the finest female actors of our time brilliantly composes herself to emotionally dedicate her well-earned gong to one of the finest male actors of our time – “a monumental presence who is now so sadly in absence.”
