Netflix claims viewers have spent TWO BILLION HOURS watching Adam Sandler movies

Rory Cashin

The Ridiculous Six felt that long, to be fair.

Okay, we’ve got a problem here.

Today (Friday 31 January) sees the release of Uncut Gems, a properly brilliant Adam Sandler movie, which we really can’t recommend enough.

Also, not too long ago, Sandler starred in The Meyerowitz Stories (the movie the writer/director of Marriage Story made before that Oscar magnet), which was also great.

And both were Netflix exclusives.

However, they sit alongside other Sandler/Netflix movies that include The Ridiculous Six (one of the worst movies of 2015), The Do-Over (one of the worst movies of 2016), Sandy Wexler (a movie we genuinely hadn’t heard of until right this minute), The Week Of (just an averagely bad movie), and Murder Mystery (ditto).

And that isn’t including other Sandler movies currently available on the streaming service, including That’s My Boy (terrible), Just Go With It (terrible), Big Daddy (not terrible, just bad), The Cobbler (terrible), Pixels (terrible), and loads more, including Happy Gilmore (fantastic).

So when Netflix tell Deadline that streaming customers have watched over TWO BILLION HOURS of Adam Sandler content on their service… it does raise some existential questions.

Could those 83,333,333 days have been better spent, maybe working towards world peace?

Maybe those 228 years could have been spent learning a new language, or finishing that book we keep putting off?

Netflix have also confirmed that Sandler has four more movies in the pipeline for them, but maybe, just maybe, if they’re more like Uncut Gems, then maybe this could be a good thing?

Not much details have been released on those movies, except for one: Hubie Halloween.

That title doesn’t bode well, but maybe the co-stars will give us some hope. So who else is in this one? Kevin James, Rob Schneider and Shaquille O’Neal.

Oh God. Maybe the plot will make us more optimis-

“It follows Hubie Dubois who, despite his devotion to his hometown of Salem, Massachusetts (and its legendary Halloween celebration), is a figure of mockery for kids and adults alike. But this year, something really is going bump in the night, and it’s up to Hubie to save Halloween.”

Oh well.
