Ah here, no need for this! Scrubs to be made into a Broadway musical

Why, Hollywood, why???

Tony Cuddihy

The misadventures of JD and Turk are getting the song and dance treatment.

‘Scrubs’ creator is following the Hollywood trend of never being able to leave well enough alone, and hatching plans to bring the comedy to the stage.

Clearly oblivious to the fact that the 2007 musical episode of the show was the worst in its nine-year run (and yes, we’re including ‘Scrubs Interns’ in that), Lawrence is pressing ahead with the nonsensical idea anyway.

He explained: “We’re negotiating with different theatre groups who will hopefully put up the money for a year to pay the composers to develop [spec songs]. Disney has nicely become a silent partner in giving the rights for us to go shop it.

“And the most fun thing for a theatre junkie is we’ve already reached the stage that various composers have been submitting songs based on an outline that we put together for the type of stuff we would do.”

Zach Braff, sensibly enough, will not be playing JD in the Broadway version.

Lawrence also denied that a movie version of ‘Scrubs’ could also be in the works.

“We filmed so many episodes that I feel like it had played its full course. You could argue Veronica Mars got cut short in its lifespan, but for us, I never really saw any life moving past nine years. It’s not really the type of show for a movie.”Why
