WATCH: A real-life lawyer has discussed Charlie’s take on “bird law” from It’s Always Sunny

Rudi Kinsella

Always Sunny bird law

An actual lawyer has sat down and watched the entirety of “McPoyle vs. Ponderosa: The Trial of the Century”, an incredibly confusing episode of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Anyone who has ever seen It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia knows about Charlie’s obsession with bird law.

Bird law is the legal semantics of any sort of bird-related crime. And yes, it is exactly as ridiculous as it sounds.

And it’s often a pretty huge part of the show, but never more so than in the episode ‘McPoyle vs. Ponderosa: The Trial of the Century’, in which Liam McPoyle teams up with the unnamed Lawyer to sue Bill Ponderosa for his lost eye.

The YouTube page LegalEagle has taken a look at the episode from the point of view of a real, fully-qualified lawyer, and it’s pretty brilliant.

He points out the many flaws with how the courtroom operates in this episode, with some of the issues that he notices being more obvious than others…

For example, the lawyer points out the flaw in Mac’s bombshell theory, where he states that not every case has a bombshell, despite what Hollywood would have you believe.

He gave the episode a rating of an ‘F’, when it comes to how realistic it is. This is the lowest grade that he has ever given out.

Somehow, we reckon the folks behind It’s Always Sunny won’t be too annoyed by this news.
