The amount of money Robert Downey Jr. made for Avengers: Infinity War is insane

A financial report from Marvel also revealed an very interesting nugget about Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.3.

When he first took on the role of Tony Stark, it did just seem like Robert Downey Jr. was just sort of playing himself, but a genius, billionaire, playboy philanthropist version of himself.

And now it looks like Downey is closing in on actually being as rich as Tony Stark, too.

The Hollywood Reporter has a deep dive on the Marvel’s salary round-up, which shows that Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth both netted around $15-20 million for their parts in Avengers: Infinity War. Scarlet Johansson is set to get $20 million for starring in and producing the upcoming Black Widow standalone movie.

But after joining the MCU first, we know that Downey sorted himself out with a unique pay package that would give him more out of the Marvel movie’s back-end than an upfront paycheck. Essentially, the more money the movies make, the more money he will make.

So with that in mind, and considering Infinity War made a little over $2 billion at the worldwide box office, it should come as no real surprise to learn that he made at least $75 million for his work on that movie.

That isn’t even counting the money he’s set to get for Endgame, which has broken just about every box office record going in its first three days alone, so he could be looking at around $200 million for those two Avengers movies alone.

That same report also reveals that Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) and Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange) have one movie left each on their existing contracts, which will likely be an individual standalone movie for each of them in the next few years.

Additionally, the report states:

“Then there are new additions to the cinematic universe such as Eternals, which will be led by Angelina Jolie and start shooting this year, and Shang-Chi, centered on an Asian hero yet to be cast that will shoot after Eternals. And Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is planned for a 2020 shoot – the current five stars are expected to reunite – with James Gunn back in the saddle as director. Adds one source: “With Marvel and with Kevin, there’s always a long game in play.””

That is A LOT sooner than anyone had anticipated on fans getting GOTG3, since Gunn is currently hard at work over at Warners and DC, gearing up on their Suicide Squad sequel set for an August 2021 release.

So, essentially, he’ll finish his work for DC, and go straight to the Marvel set for Guardians 3.

That is some work ethic.

Here’s hoping he’s getting paid Downey money for it!
