Welcome to #TrailerChest, where we're taking a sneak peek at the brand new trailer for Arctic.Plot's it all about? Do you remember the movie The Grey? The one with Liam Neeson, after he survived a plane crash that left him in the freezing tundra, he then had to contend with a hungry pack of wolves hunting him and his fellow, ever-dwindling survivors?
Well, it looks to us that Arctic is taking on a similar, albeit more stream-lined approach to that same story.
We see that former Bond villain Mads Mikkelsen has survived a plane crash, and he is helping a woman (relative newcomer Smáradóttir) to regain her strength. But with no way of contacting any potential saviors, and a huge inbound storm likely to wipe them out entirely, he decides to begin the trek back to safety himself.
Plus there are those polar bears to take into consideration.
The movie premiered at last year's Cannes Film Festival where it was met with some great reviews, while fans of the survivor drama subgenre (see also 127 Hours, All Is Lost, Castaway, etc.) should definitely be adding this one to their must-watch lists.
Starring: Mads Mikkelsen, Maria Thelma Smáradóttir
Directed by: Joe Penna
Irish release date: TBC, but the US release date is 1 February, so we imagine we won't be too far behind
