‘Leave it oouuuuut’
It might be hard to imagine someone as eloquent and as well-spoken as President of Ireland Michael D Higgins speaking like a Cockney lout, but anything can happen in a Gift Grub sketch and this morning’s effort was up to the usual high standards produced by Mario and the gang.
In today’s sketch, El Presidente was on hand to open the doors to the first Wetherspoons pub to be opened in Ireland and was on hand to serve a number of familiar guests – Enda Kenny, Joan Burton, Robbie Keane and Bertie Ahern amongst them – who arrived for drinks like Dogfish Head DNA and revisionist craft lager and dishes like Scampi and Fries.
Just don’t expect to hear much mention of pints of the black stuff; that’s not on the menu here.
