Disney are putting forward some (but not all) of the Avengers: Endgame stars for Oscars

It took home the Best Picture award from the People’s Choice Awards on Sunday night.

While the MCU is far from over, there is a similar “end of an era” awards push for Avengers: Endgame that we have previously seen with The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King (which was nominated for 11 Oscars, and won them all) and Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part II (which landed three nominations, but zero wins).

On Sunday night (10 November), the E! People’s Choice Awards took place in Santa Monica, and Avengers: Endgame took home Best Movie, as well as Best Action Movie and Best Male Movie Star (for Robert Downey Jr., but Chris Hemsworth was also nominated).

That might sound somewhat impressive, until you read some of the other winners, which includes Netflix’s Murder Mystery winning Best Comedy (which, by the way, wasn’t funny. At all.), and After winning Best Drama. Before you ask, no, we haven’t heard of After either.

Anyway, what this could mean is that Endgame could get the “popular vote” when it comes to the Academy picking their Best Picture nominees and while it seems highly unlikely it will actually win, just being nominated would be pretty special.

Outside of that, Disney have also put several other folk involved in Endgame forward for potential Oscar consideration, including Anthony & Joe Russo for Best Director and Alan Silvestri for Best Score.

Plus, they’ve chosen 13 of the movie’s stars to be considered for Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress, with the following singled out: Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Josh Brolin, Paul Rudd, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan and Brie Larson.

Of course, that does seem to leave out Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Chadwick Boseman and Letitia Wright.

If we were guessing, it would appear that only those who weren’t “blipped” have made it on to the Oscar short-list, which makes a certain kind of sense, as the others (SPOILERS) really only rocked up for that final scene.

We’ll see if any of the Avengers make it to the shortlist when the Oscar nominations are announced on Tuesday 22 January 2020, ahead of the big night itself on Sunday 24 February.
