Man beaten up outside cinema for shouting Avengers spoilers

Dave Hanratty

Avengers Endgame

We really are in the Endgame now.

You may have noticed that Avengers: Endgame has finally arrived.

The culmination to a film series that kicked off in 2008 – or, at least, the culmination of what has been referred to as “the first chapter”, anyway – is here, and you can go see it now at your leisure.

Though many diehard MCU fans have already found time in the past few days to squeeze these three very important hours into their respective life schedules, a lot of people haven’t seen the movie.

With that in mind, and with an increasingly tense spoiler-phobic culture in play, we will not be revealing any plot details in this here post.

In fact, you can go and read our spoiler-free review here, and if you have seen the film and wish to delve a little deeper, we’ve got you covered right here.

Avengers: Endgame is big business. After just a couple of days in the world, it is already smashing box office records.

Some are now wondering if it can topple Avatar’s worldwide box office take of $2.788 billion.

While that weird pop culture moment seems to be in strange, forgettable league of its own, maybe don’t rule it out. Infinity War is currently in fourth spot ($2,048 billion) on the all-time highest grossing list, and you expect Endgame will overtake that.

All of which is to say that the general public really has investment in this.

You can dismiss the MCU as making the same movie over and over again and it all just being silly superhero guff if you like, but people all across the world are committed.

So much so that if you decide to be edgy and go around shouting out spoilers outside a cinema with people queuing up to go in and see the movie, it might not go too well for you.

Deadline notes that one such brave soul did just that over in Hong Kong, only to wind up in a violent altercation with unimpressed punters.

According to Taiwanese media, the unidentified man was leaving the cinema in Causeway Bay after seeing Endgame when he decided to throw out some spoilers to the public.

As noted, this did not end well for him.

A photograph of the purported victim quickly circulated via social media, showing him in a state of bloodied distress after a brief scuffle took place.

Serious business, those spoilers. And you thought the critics had it bad.

The moral? Don’t be this guy:
