BAI declare complaint about this Tommy Tiernan joke to be a joke

Complaint rejected

Eric Lalor

The PC brigade have been knocked back.

The BAI has rejected a complaint from a viewer about a joke that Tommy Tiernan made on TV3 when they screened his stand-up show ‘Crooked Man’ back in December.

In one of his routines, the brilliant comedian from Navan spoke of the Irish and St Patrick’s Day and how Jesus would have enjoyed a break from this 40 days and nights in the desert.

You can find the joke 12 minutes in here.

This offended the viewer who felt it insulted their Christian beliefs and that it was made worse by the use of profanity. The BAI rejected the complaint saying  that it was “clearly a joke” and “not meant as harmful or offensive”.

They added that the show was shown after the watershed and went out after 10pm that night.
