These would be huge…

Former US President Barack Obama is reportedly in talks with Netflix to provide exclusive content to the streaming service.

According to The New York Times, talks between the two parties are at an advanced stage but are not yet finalised.

Under the terms of the proposed deal, Netflix would pay Obama and his wife, Michelle, for exclusive content that would be available only on the streaming service to Netflix’s 118 million subscribers worldwide.

The number of episodes and format of the shows has yet to be decided and it’ believed that Obama does not intend to use the programmes to directly respond to criticism by Donald Trump, or other political opponents.

Obama’s senior adviser, Eric Schultz, told the New York Times: “President and Mrs Obama have always believed in the power of storytelling to inspire. Throughout their lives, they have lifted up stories of people whose efforts to make a difference are quietly changing the world for the better.

“As they consider their future personal plans, they continue to explore new ways to help others tell and share their stories.”

It’s reported that the shows may include Obama moderating conversations on topics that dominated his presidency, including healthcare and climate change.
