Who is playing who in the Beatles biopic

Footage has emerged of the four actors playing The Beatles in Sam Mendes’ upcoming Beatles biopic films recreating the band’s Abbey Road album cover on the zebra crossing outside the famous London studio, and two of the four leads are Irish.

The clip, posted on social media and reported by The Journal, shows the four men lined up on the footpath before walking across the crossing, long a tourist stop in its own right.

Harris Dickinson leads as John Lennon, followed by Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison.

Saoirse Ronan is also among the cast, making three Irish names in the ensemble.

Mendes, the director behind American Beauty, Revolutionary Road and the Bond film Skyfall, is making four separate films, one for each member of the band.

Filming began in March of this year and all four are due to be released simultaneously in April 2028.

For Irish audiences that is a rare thing: two of the four leads in one of the most ambitious music biopic projects ever attempted, plus Ronan, all coming from here.

There is still the small matter of a year and a half of post-production before anyone gets to judge the accents.
