Paul Mescal And Barry Keoghan Recreate Abbey Road Cover For The Beatles Biopic

It wouldn’t be a Beatles film without that crossing. Paul Mescal and Barry Keoghan — two of the biggest Irish actors working today — have been filmed strolling across the Abbey Road zebra crossing alongside Harris Dickinson and Joseph Quinn, recreating the most famous album cover in pop history for Sam Mendes’ Beatles biopic.

What we know about the Beatles biopic

Mendes’ project is not one film but four. Titled The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, each instalment is told from the perspective of a different band member, and all four are set for release by Sony Pictures in April 2028.

The access is as striking as the scale. It is the first time The Beatles and their estates have signed off on both life rights and music for a theatrical feature film about the band.

Why Irish fans will be watching the Beatles biopic

For Irish audiences, the casting is the draw. Keoghan has spent recent years moving between Hollywood and homegrown work, including Barry Keoghan’s Irish film Lemonade, while Mescal has barely broken stride since Paul Mescal in Aftersun.

Irish cinemagoers face a long wait — April 2028 is the better part of two years away — but on the evidence of one video shot on a London street, the casting looks the part.
