Pure nostalgia.

Despite the fact that the latest film in the X-Men franchise, Dark Phoenix, isn’t that good, the allure of Charles Xavier’s students is as strong as it has ever been.

However, now that Fox has merged with Disney, plenty of comic book fans have been curious about what the Mouse House have planned on their slate.

Avengers: Endgame is the culmination in the latest stage of the MCU, but with so many comic book characters and storylines to choose from, Disney’s box-office domination looks set to continue.

Aside from this, there’s the small matter of their new streaming service, Disney +, to contend with and it appears that a stalwart of every ’90s childhood could be making a comeback.

The Hollywood Reporter have stated that the creators behind the beloved X-Men animated series series are currently working to put together a pitch for the team at Disney.

They report that X-Men artist Larry Houston plans to continue the new episodes right where the show ended.

“The one thing we’d like to do more than anything else is to continue where we left off,” Houston said.

Running for a total of 76 episodes over five seasons, X-Men: The Animated Series was one of the first major cartoons to deal with serialised storytelling, carrying arcs through multiple episodes.

Aside from this, it also had one of the best intros that you’ll see.
