Disney+ has just released a heartwarming new short film from Oscar-winning director Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit, Thor: Ragnarok, What We Do in the Shadows).
Titled Best Christmas Ever, the live-action short film centres around a little girl who makes a Christmas Eve wish to bring one of her doodles to life.
The next morning, she awakens to discover her wish came true, with her and Doodle subsequently becoming great friends.
The only issue: the kid never gave Doodle a mouth, meaning he struggles to communicate or enjoy sweet treats.
Realising how much this is affecting her creation, the girl asks Santa for a toy the following year that could make for an inventive solution to the problem.

Less than three minutes long, Best Christmas Ever is as lovely as it is brief.
The story and its special effects are very fun and imaginative. Waititi gives the film a warm glow that evokes the festive season.
Plus, a voice cameo by a beloved actor and a legendary Disney star at the end of the short, which we won't spoil, is the cherry on the cake.
