What is the best Danny DeVito movie?

Rory Cashin

Yes, we all had to fight the urge to break the rule and just pick Always Sunny…

Danny DeVito is one of those actors that means something different to entire generations of people.

Some might have initially gotten to know him through the likes of Taxi and One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest.

Others might have been introduced to him via Twins, War Of The Roses, Romancing The Stone or Throw Momma From The Train.

And then there is an entire generation who might only know him as Frank from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, or that one episode of Friends when he appeared as a stripper.

Regardless, the man is a legend.

With the arrival of his latest movie, Jumanji: The Next Level, we wanted to focus on what we figured to be the highlights of a very impressive career to date.

As it was Eoghan’s question, he went first, and he went with Matilda, which was a movie that didn’t just show of DeVito’s acting talents, but also the director of the kid’s classic.

Providing both the narration for the story, and playing Matilda’s somewhat evil Dad, it was a great showcase for what he is truly capable of, both in front and behind the camera.

Justine went next, and she too went for Matilda. Not only that, but the scene she picked for her answer was pretty much the exact same scene that Eoghan had picked for his answer. So, in short, there is a lot of love for Matilda on this episode.

Rory went last, and considering he thinks Batman Returns is the best Christmas movie of all time, the gang assumed that would be his pick.

Instead, he went with Get Shorty, in which DeVito plays an Oscar-winning actor who takes his “craft” way too seriously, and finds himself trying to act like a criminal for an actual criminal (John Travolta).

So tell us on Twitter what you reckon DeVito’s best movie is…
