Here are the 7 best movies on TV this evening

best movies on tv tonight

It’s a good night for fans of classic comedies from the 2000s.

The Late Late Show is back tonight, but if you’re not ready to commit all of your Friday night to the return of Ryan Tubridy and assorted guests, then you’re not short of options on the box.

You will, however, have a choice to make around 9pm; here’s what’s on the menu.

Fast and Furious 7 – Virgin Media One – 9pm

Paul Walker died during the making of the seventh edition in the series and he’s the subject of a beautiful tribute in this, the ninth-highest grossing movie of all time.

The Hangover – ITV2 – 9pm

The original and by far and away the best of the three Hangover movies. Why not watch it for the 57th time tonight?

Pitch Perfect 2 – E4 – 9pm

Unfortunately falls into the bracket of sequels that just don’t quite live up to the magnificent original. Still very funny and very charming, just doesn’t have the spark of the first one.

Superbad – Dave – 9pm

Just because you’ve watched it so often you can nearly recite all of the script doesn’t mean you can’t watch it again.

Shooter – Film4 – 9pm

The title tells you pretty much all you need to know about a fairly standard Mark Wahlberg thriller.

Disappointingly, the title does not refer to a stand-alone movie about infamous Happy Gilmore villain Shooter McGavin, something that really needs to be made.

The Perfect Storm – RTÉ2, – 9.50pm

Mark Wahlberg again, alongside George Clooney in better fare about a bunch of fisherman who head out to sea and get caught up in, you guessed it… the perfect storm.

Conveniently, considering what we’ve just said above, the movie also stars Christopher McDonald, who played Shooter McGavin in Happy Gilmore.

Get Hard – Comedy Central – 10pm

The kindest thing to say is that it’s not one of Will Ferrell’s better outings.
