Here are the 6 best movies on today this Tuesday

Dave Hanratty

Best Movies on TV Tuesday 4 September

He didn’t kill his wife, you know.

At least that’s what he claims, anyway.

Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones get their gruff on in The Fugitive, which is one of our six choices for your viewing pleasure this evening – Tuesday 4 September.

It’s not even midweek yet and summer is over, might as well throw a movie on and pretend things are okay, eh?

MONDAY 3 SEPTEMBER

The Expendables 3 – Comedy Central – 9pm

Ah yes, rib-tickling classic The Expendables 3 and Comedy Central, together at last.

The third – and for now, final – adventure in Sly Stallone’s get-the-lads-together series brings Mel Gibson into play alongside Wesley Snipes, Ronda Rousey and a wholesale lack of blood.

Yep, it’s the most tame outing for the Expendables crew but you could do worse of a Tuesday night.

The Fugitive – ITV 4 – 9pm

Or you could pick an enduring thriller that is well worth revisiting.

Based on the 1960s TV show of the same name, The Fugitive finds Dr Richard Kimble on the run and desperate to prove his innocence following the murder of his wife.

Tommy Lee Jones is the dogged lawman on his tail in a role that landed him a Best Supporting Actor Oscar, but the real infamy came when The Simpsons got involved:

Bridesmaids – ITV 2 – 9pm

The film that got writer and director Paul Feig the Ghostbusters reboot.

Bridesmaids is considerably more entertaining.

Ride Along 2 – Film 4 – 9pm

Comedy sequels can be a mixed bag, so it’s a good thing that Ride Along 2 glides by on the charisma of lead pair Ice Cube and Kevin Hart.

It made quite a bit of bank, too, so you can probably expect a third one any day now.

Ghost Rider – SyFy – 10pm

A year after Ghost Rider was released, Iron Man came along and changed everything, establishing the Marvel Cinematic Universe and ushering in a never-ending wave of superhero movies.

The genre was nothing new by the time Nicolas Cage hopped aboard a motorbike and screamed, flaming skull and all, into the camera.

Ghost Rider is a quite fascinating misfire, with Cage bringing his usual level of mania to the project.

Top Five – Film 4 – 1.10am

Chris Rock writes, directs and stars in this charming indie in which his comedian and movie star chats to Rosario Dawson’s journalist about his career and ends up learning life lessons along the way.
