It’s Wednesday and there’s one standout movie on.
In the years gone by, you could have expected a few mid-week movies to be on Irish TV to pass your Wednesday night.
But no, not today. There’s no movies whatsoever on Irish TV so we’ve had to look a little further afield.
Hampstead – Film4 – 6.45pm
Brendan Gleeson and Diane Keaton fall in love in London.
Definitely, Maybe – Sky Comedy – 9pm
A charming rom-com/drama starring Ryan Reynolds and Isla Fisher. A very watchable movie.
Lucy – Film4 – 9pm
Don’t know what to say about this one, I didn’t think it was great but it got a decent reception from critics.
Pale Rider – ITV4 – 10pm
Clint Eastwood is the star and director of this western. He must defend a small town from a band of hooligans in this movie which got 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.
“I rate Pale Rider as the very best of Eastwoods’ westerns. It is such a a perfectly rounded and seamless story. The scene sequence is so natural & logical. It is a timeless movie.” – Reece Kirk, random Google reviewer.
Assassination Games – SyFy – 10pm
Do yourself a favour and watch Pale Rider instead.
Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping – Film4 – 10.45pm
The Lonely Island trio create a really fun mockumentary.
Dinner for Schmucks – Comedy Central Extra – 11.30pm
This has some great stars in it, but somehow manages to make a mess of all their charismatic talent.
LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
