Movies on TV

It’s Wednesday.

If you’re planning on sitting in this evening, you’ll be faced with quality over quantity in terms of movies on TV.

Although there are a few clangers thrown in as well.

Here’s a look at the movies on TV this evening.

God’s of Egypt – Film4 – 6.35pm

Gerard Butler stars in a historic drama/action which was eviscerated by critics.

Lady Bird – RTÉ One – 9.35pm

This coming of age movie earned Saoirse Ronan an Oscar nomination for Best Actress and was lauded by critics and fans alike.

Don’t believe us? Rotten Tomatoes has it at 99%.

Passenger 57 – ITV4 – 9pm

A classic 90s action movie about a retired anti-terrorist expert who finds himself dragged back into his old world when a terrorist takes over the plane he’s on.

On another note, the lead character’s name is John Cutter. That should be enough to make you watch it.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit – Film4 – 9pm

Chris Pine follows in the steps of Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck to take up the mantle of Jack Ryan.

A decent outing, but John Krasinski’s version in the Jack Ryan TV series on Amazon Prime is still the best.

Cop Out – Comedy Central – 10pm

A buddy cop movie which should be well down on your list of things to watch tonight.

The Purge – ITV4 – 10.40pm

The movie which led to about half a dozen spin offs. One day a year, every crime is made legal.

Aside from mindless violence, there’s a metaphor in there somewhere.
