movies on TV

It’s Wednesday.

We’re officially in midweek and that means you have some midweek movies to look forward to this evening.

And you’re in luck, because there are a couple of decent choices.

Here’s the pick of the bunch.

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb – Film4, 7.05pm

Probably the best of three movies in this franchise but still nothing to write home about.

I, Tonya – RTÉ One – 9.30pm

Unbelievably, this is based on the true story of one of the most sensational scandals in sporting history.

A darkly comedic tale about American figure skater Tonya Harding as it tracks the scandal which enveloped her career following the actions of her husband, who orchestrated an attack on her rival, Nancy Kerrigan.

The Thing – Sky Atlantic – 10.10pm

Kurt Russell battles an alien host in John Carpenter’s classic sci-fi/horror.

Paul – ITV2 – 9pm

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost cross paths with an alien (Seth Rogen) when they visit Comic-Con, get tied up in a government plot and decide to try to help the guy get back home.

Very on brand for the trio.

Scary Movie 3 – Comedy Central – 9pm

Only watch this if you very stuck for something to do.

Den of Thieves – Film4 – 9pm

Gerard Butler, 50 Cent, O’Shea Jackson Jnr and Pablo Schreiber star in this intense action thriller.

Has some great shoot outs in fairness.

Sudden Death – ITV4 – 10pm

Ever wonder what Die Hard would be like if Jean Claude Van Damme was the lead, and instead of Nakatomi Plaza, the setting was an ice hockey stadium?

Well, here you go.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
