movies on TV

It’s Monday.

The first day of the working week and a perfect opportunity for you to stay indoors and get some movies into you.

Providing you’re not checking out Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ or whatever else is on offer in the streaming world, here’s a quick rundown of what TV is offering this evening.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Film4 – 6.55pm

Some big names, but this one missed the mark… by a long way.

Beverly Hills Cop – Sky One – 9pm

Eddie Murphy plays Axel Foley, a wisecracking detective from Detroit. An investigation into his friend’s murder leads him to Los Angeles.

I believe it’s referred to as a great popcorn movie.

Die Hard 4.0 – Film4 – 9pm

A movie which was made solely to illustrate that John McClane cannot be killed.

Set 12 years after he saved the day in Die Hard with a Vengeance, Willis proves he’s still got it.

The Bourne Ultimatum – TG4 – 9.30pm

On a basic level, this is a film about a man with amnesia who wants to remember, so he spends two hours beating the crap out of people to find out about his past.

There’s a little bit more to it than that… just a smidge.

92% on Rotten Tomatoes and stars Ireland’s own Matt Damon.

Super Troopers – Comedy Central Extra – 10pm

A bunch of highway patrol troopers stumble across what could be a career-defining case, only for the local police force to mess it up for them.

A movie that’s in a similar category to Pineapple Express and Harold and Kumar Get The Munchies.

Platoon – ITV4 – 10.05pm

One of the best Vietnam war movies there is, with a hilariously star-studded cast.

Crystal Inferno – SyFy – 11pm

Disaster hits when two teenagers are caught in a fire on the 20th floor of a skyscraper. But don’t worry, their parents are on their way.

You know those movies that are so bad, they’re actually good? This one is just straight up bad.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
