Movies on TV

Whenever you’ve forgotten what day it is, it’s almost always Wednesday.

At least we’re pretty sure that today is Wednesday.

Let’s hope so, because these are the movies on TV this Wednesday evening (13 May).

Diamonds Are Forever – ITV4 – 8pm

Certainly one of the most iconic Bond theme songs, and probably one of the most iconic movies. This one sees Sean Connery as 007, taking on his arch-enemy Blofeld, who is using diamonds to power his doomsday device.

The Danish Girl – Sky Atlantic – 9pm

Alicia Vikander turns in an Oscar-worthy performance alongside Eddie Redmayne, who was also nominated for Best Actor following this role as Lili Elbe, one of the first known recipients of sex reassignment surgery.

Memoirs of an Invisible Man – SyFy – 10pm

A successful but bored stockbroker receives an unexpected boost after he is made accidentally invisible in a scientific experiment. Comedy starring Chevy Chase.

8 Mile – ITV4 – 10.15pm

“Now everybody from the 313, put ya muthaf*ckin’ hands up and follow me.”

The ‘Burbs – Sky One – 10.30pm

Early Tom Hanks film from back when he was mostly a goofy comedy actor. This one sees him investigating the possibility that his neighbours are in a death cult.

Hilarious, right? Also stars Bruce Dern and Carrie Fisher.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
