Here are the best movies on TV this evening

movies on TV

It’s Thursday.

No not the third day, Thursday.

Yes, we’re nearing the end of the standard working week and we’ve already have some very good movie news today.

But we’re not here for new releases. We’re here for the movies on TV this evening.

Here’s the pick of the bunch.

Only The Brave – Film4 – 6.20pm

One of the better choices on the TV this evening and it’s starting right after you knock off from work.

Josh Brolin and Miles Teller lead this reality-based disaster film which chronicles an Arizona firefighting crew known as the Granite Mountain Hotshots from formation to disaster.

Rambo III – ITV4 – 9pm

The first two Rambo movies weren’t great, but at least there was some mindless fun to be had.

This doesn’t even have that.

It’s a no from us.

Sweet Country – Film4 – 9pm

An Aboriginal man from Australia’s Northern Territory goes on the run after he kills a white man in self-defence.

An incredible film, but uplifting it is not.

50 First Dates – Comedy Central – 9pm

Adam Sandler stars in this rom com about a man who makes a girl (Drew Barrymore) with memory loss fall in love with him every day.

Not sure what mode we’re in right now. Do we like Adam Sandler again at this point? Uncut Gems was good. Stressful but good.

Shaun of the Dead – ITV4 – 11.20pm

It is still a school night – for now, damn you Covid – so this late starter might be pushing the limits of how long you’re willing to forgo sleep.

But if you do chance it, there’s plenty to like about Edgar Wright’s comedy/horror starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

A cult favourite.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
