Movies on TV

It’s Wednesday.

Yes, it’s only Wednesday.

We wish we could tell you there’s a smorgasbord of movies on TV this evening to help you pass the time.

But unfortunately, we’re rather limited on the movie front with no films on Irish TV at all, and slim pickings elsewhere.

Here’s the pick of what’s on…

God’s of Egypt – Film4 – 6.35pm

Gerard Butler stars in a historic drama/action which was eviscerated by critics.

Belle – Film4 – 9pm

The illegitimate daughter of a navy admiral is trained and brought up by her aristocratic uncle and his wife.

She grows up to abolish slavery in England.

Carlito’s Way – ITV4 – 10.30pm

Al Pacino and Sean Penn star in this tense drama about a former criminal released from prison who wants to start his life anew, only to be dragged by down into a drug deal from which there is no escape.

Transporter 3 – Film4 – 11.05pm

The weakest of the Transporter trilogy by some distance but it’s Jason Statham so it did alright.

We’re mixing it up here and adding a streaming recommendation as well.

The Peanut Butter Falcon – Netflix

A happy movie to watch in the midst of all this doom and gloom.

Zak, young man with Down syndrome (Zack Gottsagen) runs away from an assisted living facility to pursue his dream of becoming a wrestler and forms a bond with a fisherman – and thief – named Tyler (Shia LaBeouf).

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
