Movies on TV

It’s Wednesday.

It’s important we tell you early so you can taper your expectations; the selection of movies on TV on this particular Wednesday is about as poor as we’ve seen.

There’s probably just one film worth considering.

Although there’s some Champions League action which looks like the better option.

But if you’re insistent on tuning into some films, here’s the pick of what’s on.

Romancing the Stone – Film4 – 7.50pm

Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner, and Danny DeVito all star in the beloved adventure that’s not quite Indiana Jones good, but better than most others.

Backtrace – SyFy – 10pm

A man suffers a brain injury during a bank heist. After serving time in prison, he’s injected with a serum to aid his memory and embarks to recover the stolen money.

It got 11% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit – Film4 – 9pm

Chris Pine throws his hand at the iconic Jack Ryan but while it’s by no means an awful movie, it’s not quite one that will last in the memory either.

John Krasinski’s version in the Jack Ryan TV series on Amazon Prime is still the best.

Battleship – ITV4 – 10.05pm

Rihanna and a few others battle aliens in the Pacific.

It’s filled with non-stop action and is loosely based on the Hasbro game.

It follows a well beaten plot for alien invasion movies; the aliens at first seem invincible but the heroes eventually discover a weakness.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
