Movies on TV

It’s Wednesday.

We’re knee deep in another week and in comparison to some of the weeks we’ve had over the last year, there’s genuinely been reason for optimism at times.

We’ve news the AstraZeneca vaccine has proven to be effective in preventing the spread of Covid-19 which is promising to say the least.

There’s also the promise of a higher quantity of vaccines than originally promised from Pfizer.

Did we mention your dad – or let’s be honest, you – may have a new favourite film out this week as well?

See? It’s not all bad.

Here are the best movies on TV this evening.

The Huntsman: Winter’s War – Film4 – 6.50pm

Dark fairy-tale action-adventure starring Chris Hemsworth, Jessica Chastain, Charlize Theron and Emily Blunt.

Probably should have been better than it was.

Zombieland – Comedy Central – 9pm

Zombie spoof.

Can somebody please get Woody Harrelson a f**king twinky?

Searching – Film4 – 9pm

David Kim files a police complaint in order to find his missing daughter, Margot but everything unravels when he checks her laptop.

The Untouchables – ITV4 – 10pm

Kevin de Palma’s gangster flick has an excellent cast and is well worth a watch for those of you interested in how mob kings like Al Capone ran things during the prohibition era.

The Lovely Bones – Film4 – 11.10pm

Saoirse Ronan is murdered but her spirit stays behind to watch over her family and tries to alert her father and sister begin to follow the clues to find her murderer

Southpaw – Channel 4 – 12.10am

Jake Gyllenhaal gets super ripped as a down on his luck boxer trying to fight his way back to the top.

Gyllenhaal and Forest Whitaker provide immense performances.
