“It’s Friday, Friday, gotta get…” you know the rest.

We’re about to step into another weekend and in this climate that means multiple walks within your 5km and liberal amounts of TV viewing.

There are actually a lot of good films on TV this evening and here’s the pick of the bunch.

City Slickers – Film4 – 6.25pm

Jack Palance won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in his role in this film.

Roger Ebert said: “This is the proverbial comedy with the heart of truth, the tear in the eye along with the belly laugh. It’s funny, and it adds up to something.”

Knocked Up – ITV2 – 9pm

Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl learn about parenthood in this quite decent comedy.

Jaws 2 – ITV4 – 9pm

It’s a different shark.

The Martian – Film4 – 9pm

Based on the true story of how NASA rescued astronaut Mark Watney when he got trapped on Mars that time.

Totally, 100%, true story. No need to Google or read any more about it.

Forsaken – TG4 – 9.20pm

A gunslinger returns to his hometown to reconnect with his father, but faces some obstacles upon his arrival.

The Zookeeper’s Wife – RTÉ2 – 9.30pm

The true tale of survival that unfolded at the Warsaw Zoo during Germany’s invasion of Poland in World War II.

Law Abiding Citizen – Virgin Media One – 9.30pm

Over the top action film about a man who becomes hell bent on revenge against all those involved in the brutal attack on his wife and daughter, including the police and officials who investigated it.

The Graduate – RTÉ One – 11.25pm

One of those classics you should probably check off your bucket list if you haven’t already.

Ex Machina – Film Four – 11.45pm

Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac and Alicia Vikander star in this creepy, Black Mirror-esque sci-fi.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
