Movies on TV

It’s Friday.

We’re approaching the weekend, so here’s what movies are on TV today.

Ender’s Game – Film4 – 6.45pm

Ender Wiggin, a brilliant young strategist, is recruited by the International Military to lead the force defending Earth from a genocidal alien race bent on annihilating humankind.

The Dukes of Hazzard – Comedy Central – 8pm

Falls well short of the easy charm of the original series.

Faster – Virgin Media One – 9pm

The Rock stars in this action picture with a bit of thought behind it.

Ted 2 – E4 – 9pm

Nowhere near as funny as the first but still some very enjoyable moments.

War for the Planet of the Apes – Film4 – 9pm

Some critics described this movie as an “improbably magnificent film”, and they’re correct.

Tara Road – RTÉ2 – 9.35pm

Adapted from the Maeve Binchy novel, Ria Lynch in Dublin and Marilyn Vine in New England, do a house swap, which proves to be very useful to both parties.

Rush – BBC One – 11.15pm

One of our favourite sports movies of the last ten years.

Jarhead – Sky Atlantic – 11.30pm

Based on the book of the same name, it tells the story of an dysfunctional unit and an undisciplined Marine during the Persian Gulf War.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
