Movies on TV

Pickings on Irish TV are of the slim variety today unfortunately.

It’s Tuesday… we think.

The days blend together without distinction after a certain point but here are some of the best movies on TV today.

No movies on Irish channels, so we’ve had to look further afield.

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer – 8pm – E4

It’s better than the first one. But that’s from a very low base.

Contraband – 10pm – Sky One

Mark Wahlberg must return to smuggling for one last job *shakes fist at sky* in order to protect his family.

83% of Google users liked the movie and so did I.

Frost/Nixon – 9pm – Sky Atlantic

This got amazing reviews, and currently sits at 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s no 83% of Google users liking it but I guess we can trust Rotten Tomatoes… for now.

Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang – 5.50pm – ITV2

The kids will love it.

Rambo: First Blood Part II – 9pm – ITV4

Rambo gets out of jail to save POWs in Vietnam. Blows stuff up.

Gangster Squad – 11.05pm – ITV4

A great cast in this good versus bad gangster action/drama.

R.I.P.D. – 10pm – SyFy

Ooof.

The Gambler – 9pm – Film4

A remake of James Toback’s 1974 drama which misses the mark.

Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story – 11.15 – Film 4

Vince Vaughn at his peak. Ben Stiller is also great.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
