movies on TV

Slim pickings.

We hate to be the bearers of bad news, but there’s not a single movie on RTÉ, Virgin Media or TG4 tonight.

We’ll be looking across to the UK channels for films to sate our frankly ravenous appetites. Although if you’re looking for a good series, The Guards: Inside The K is on Virgin Media One at 9pm this evening.

But to the movies we go…

Heartbreak Ridge – ITV4 – 9pm

Clint Eastwood, in a break from the norm, plays an old-school, hard-nosed, hard-living… boxing coach, western outlaw, cop Marine gunnery sergeant. In all seriousness, it’s a decent movie that’s worth a look if you’re flicking around.

PS I Love You – Comedy Central – 9pm

Based on the bestselling books by our own Cecelia Ahern. A film about loss and love which performed well at the box office.

Gerard Butler’s Irish accent is… not his best effort.

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life – SYFY – 9pm

It bucked the trend by managing to be better than the first movie. But that was a low bar.

The Wolverine – Film 4 – 9pm

I thought this was really bad but 91% of Google users enjoyed this movie so what do I know?

Baywatch – Film 4 – 11.35pm

The movie is a bit of fun that doesn’t try to take itself seriously. Everyone is very ripped and beautiful.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
