Well this is kind of (another) big deal…

Paramount Pictures and Gary Sanchez Productions today announced an unprecedented theatrical release of an all new cut of the hit film Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, starring Will Ferrell, in cinemas in Ireland, the UK and the US beginning February 28 for one-week only.

Super duper! That’s nice! Way to go! Neato! They’ve even kindly made us a brand spankin’ new trailer:

The new version of the film, imaginatively titled Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues … Continued, will feature up to 763* entirely new jokes from legendary anchorman Ron Burgundy and America’s favourite 24-hour global news team; Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd), Champ Kind (David Koechner) and the brilliant Brick (Steve Carell).

*Give or take…

Writer and director Adam McKay commented, “when my editor told me we had a whole different version of the movie that was more than two hours long with nearly 800 new jokes, I was shocked. But when Paramount said they were actually going to put it in theatres, I did a 1950’s spit take. If you’re a hardcore Anchorman fan, go see this. If you’re not, stay very far away.”

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues Continued, a sequel to 2004’s cult film Anchorman 2: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy was released in cinemas on December 18, 2013 and has earned more than $170 million at the worldwide box office to date.
