The Jodie Foster episode of the new Black Mirror series looks absolutely terrifying

Parents everywhere are about to get VERY freaked out...

“The key to good parenting … is control.”

We’re not sure there’s another TV show coming out in the near future that we’re more excited about that the 4th season of Black Mirror.

After the huge success of the third season when it debuted on Netflix in October 2016 – including the now legendary San Junipero episode, oh God… our emotions! – all eyes have been on how Charlie Brooker’s brilliantly demented mind would be able to follow it up.

A big step in the right direction was getting an incredible list of great directors to direct his scripts, including John Hillcoat (The Road, Lawless), David Slade (30 Days Of Night, Hannibal), Colm McCarthy (Peaky Blinders, The Girl With All The Gifts) and Tim Van Patten (Game Of Thrones, The Sopranos).

One of the entries in this anthology is titled Arkangel, and it is set to be directed by none other than Jodie Foster.

It is the first of the six episodes to get a trailer, and in it we can start to put together some of the plot elements.

A worried mother (United States of Tara’s Rosemarie DeWitt) puts her young daughter into the test trial for a certain scientific experiment, one we imagine that will make it easier to know where he free-roaming child is at all times.

Whether it is some kind of chemical input, or a microchip device, we don’t know, but whatever it is, it seems to have a profoundly negative effect on the little girl, and it is being picked up on by everyone around her.

Parents everywhere will be looking at their children in a new, slightly creeped-out light after watching this trailer.

There is still no set release date for the new season of Black Mirror, but we imagine Arkangel and the other new episodes should arrive pretty soon.

Or, at least, we hope they do…
