Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie completely forgot they were already in a movie together

And it was only a few years ago!

Starring in a Tarantino movie is a bit like starring in a Marvel movie, because chances are you’ve ended up in a film with an actor that you don’t actually share any scenes with, because the cast lists are so expansive, and his movies can sometimes go off on massive subplots that veer wildly away from the main plot.

That is pretty much exactly what happens in Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood, as (no spoilers) Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie’s characters never actually meet on screen.

However, this isn’t the first time the pair have been a movie in a movie together and not shared the screen. When JOE brought this up to them when we chatted ahead of Tarantino’s latest movie, they looked at each other, baffled.

When we reminded them that they were both in 2015’s financial crisis comedy drama The Big Short, they both burst out laughing, Robbie yelling “Oh yeah!”

Pitt responded: “That was another thing we were meant to talk about!”

We have to know, now that they’re two-for-two, do they secretly hate each other? Robbie was game on for the joke straight away: “I put it in my contract that I don’t actually want to have to share screen time with Brad. Press is okay…”

Pitt then joined in, adding: “This is actually a first. It’s a trial thing. So we’ll see how it goes today.”

Robbie responded: “It’s going well so far.”

Watch our full interview with the two stars right here, where we also talk about Tarantino’s Star Trek movie, their mutual love of stunt performers, Brad loving to eat in all of his movies and revealing that his performance in Snatch was based on a Father Ted character!

Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood is released in Irish cinemas on Wednesday 14 August.
