Brendan Gleeson nails the Donald Trump look and voice in first trailer for The Comey Rule

Brendan Gleeson Donald Trump

Brendan Gleeson’s Trump is spot on.

The first trailer for Showtime’s mini-series The Comey Rule has dropped, and it looks like Brendan Gleeson has captured Donald Trump’s notoriously distinctive voice and look.

The short teaser suggests the drama will be loaded with tension, and one close-up of Gleeson’s lips up against Jeff Daniels’ ear feels like you’re watching Trump himself.

Dubliner Gleeson is certainly famous for his roles in Irish films, such as In Bruges, The Guard, Calvary, The General and The Treaty… But it seems as though he may have been the perfect choice to depict the controversial billionaire and politician.

Who could have seen that coming?

Anyway, the mini-series, which is set to air on Showtime on 27 and 28 September, also stars the likes of Jeff Daniels (as Comey), as well as Holly Hunter, Scoot McNairy and Michael Kelly. There are no details yet about where the show will be syndicated in Ireland or other countries.

The series is based on the book A Higher Loyalty, a memoir written by James Comey — the FBI director who was fired by Donald Trump whilst in the middle of investigating the matter of his collusion with Russia during the 2016 presidential election.
