Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle team up in new action-packed look at The Batman

Stephen Porzio

It is arguably the most anticipated movie of 2022.

Warner Bros. has unveiled a new look at the Robert Pattinson-starring The Batman, which is due for release next year.

In the action-packed trailer, titled The Bat and The Cat, we see Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne aka Batman form an uneasy alliance with Selina Kyle aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz).

And it looks as if the pair will unite in the film to take down villain The Riddler (Paul Dano), who seems to be committing a wave of crimes as part of some plan of vengeance linked to the wealthy Wayne family.

The new trailer comes after Warner Bros. revealed a detailed plot synopsis for the film last month, which reads:

“Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman, striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City.

“With only a few trusted allies – Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) – amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens.

“When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman, Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler.

“As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.”

Co-written and directed by Matt Reeves (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), The Batman is set to be released in Irish cinemas on 4 March, 2022.
