Call My Agent star wants an amazing Irish actor to join the hit Netflix show

Rory Cashin

We suggested Saoirse Ronan or Colin Farrell, but she had her own ideas for Irish casting…

Over the course of lockdown, there were a number of shows that absolutely helped a great many Irish viewers in keeping boredom at bay, and one that so many people discovered and massively enjoyed over those long weeks and months was Call My Agent.

The story of a group of French talent agents who react to the sudden death of their company’s founder, they rally together to keep the business afloat, all while trying to land new talent contracts and keeping their current list of stars as happy as possible.

One of the head agents is Andréa Martel, played by Camille Cottin, and we recently caught up with the actress while she was in Cannes promoting her new drama, Stillwater.

You can check out our full interview with Cottin, as well as her Stillwater co-stars Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) and Matt Damon, and the movie’s writer/director Tom McCarthy (Spotlight) right here:

Over the course of Call My Agent’s four seasons to date, they’ve had some big stars come on and play exaggerated versions of themselves, such as Sigourney Weaver, Jean Reno, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jean Dujardin, Monica Bellucci, Isabelle Huppert, Juliette Binoche and Christophe Lambert.

We asked Cottin about potential Irish guest stars for the upcoming series and rumoured movie and suggested Saoirse Ronan or Colin Murphy, but she had other ideas:

“Cillian Murphy. I would be delighted to welcome him on to the set! Can I trust you to deliver the invitation?”

Of course! We can be his agent for Call My Agent!

Cottin replied: “Alright, then you’ll get 10 percent! The original title [of Call My Agent] is Ten Percent.”

The chat above with the actor also covers Cottin’s scenes with Matt Damon and how they navigated their characters’ tricky relationship in the movie. Cottin also has a part in Ridley Scott’s upcoming true-crime thriller House of Gucci, and she spoke briefly about that Oscar-magnet.

Stillwater is released in Irish cinemas on Friday, 6 August.
