An adaptation of a loved murder-mystery book & 6 more movies and shows to watch this weekend

Spy thrillers, huge 2022 blockbusters, powerful documentaries and the final season of a kid’s favourite are also all on the menu this weekend.

To kick things off, here are the movies which will all be available on the big screens around Ireland from Friday, 22 July.

WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING

Based on the hit novel of the same name, this mystery drama tells the story of a young woman (Daisy Edgar-Jones) who is at the centre of a murder investigation, when her very recent ex-boyfriend is suddenly found dead, and she is the prime suspect.

KURT VONNEGUT: UNSTUCK IN TIME

A critically-acclaimed recounting of the extraordinary life of author Kurt Vonnegut, and the 25-year friendship with the filmmaker who set out to document it.

And now on to the stuff you can watch at home this week, starting with…

JURASSIC WORLD: CAMP CRETACEOUS – SEASON 5

The family-friendly animated series set in the world of the hit franchise returns for a fifth and final season.

All episodes will be available to watch on Netflix from Thursday, 21 July.

THE THING ABOUT PAM

A limiter series true-story murder-mystery, about the death of a woman, her husband being found guilty despite his insistence he had nothing to do with it, and the local “business woman” Pam (Renee Zellweger) who tied it all together.

All six episodes are available to watch on Paramount+ from Thursday, 21 July.

I LOVE THAT FOR YOU

Inspired by true events, this hilarious new comedy follows childhood leukaemia survivor Joanna Gold (Vanessa Bayer) as she chases her lifelong dream of becoming a home shopping channel host. The show co-stars Molly Shannon and Jenifer Lewis.

All eight episodes are available to watch on Paramount+ from Thursday, 21 July.

JURASSIC WORLD DOMINION

Yes, it is on the other side of the weekend, but still. The culmination of Jurassic World trilogy brings back Jurassic Park favourites Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum for another globe-trotting adventure.
