Not since the halcyon days of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire has a game show gripped the public’s imagination like The Chase.
Ireland and the UK’s love affair with the ITV game show is plain to see from the reaction to the news that Bradley Walsh and his team of chasers will be coming off the air.
The show is being replaced in its 5pm slot by a game show hosted by Rylan Clark-Neal, from whatever reality TV show he’s from, called Babushka. Babushka is set to involve some kind of matryoshka doll situation with prizes inside the dolls. We’re not sure how it’s going to work but there’s simply no way it’ll be better than The Chase.
Unsurprisingly, people are feeling deeply aggrieved by the news:
Is it true that the chase is being taken off air and being replaced for Rylans new show because if so that's ridiculous ? #thechase @Rylan

However, Rylan has taken to his own Twitter to clear up matters and point out that The Chase is taken off-air temporarily every year. The Chase will simply be off-air for a month before it returns.

Crisis averted.
