Cillian Murphy and Jack Reynor will be in Dublin with their action-packed new movie Free Fire

Paul Moore

Good news for fans of the Peaky Blinders star.

Cork actor Cillian Murphy has established himself as one of the most versatile and engaging actors on screen, and Thomas Shelby himself will be in Dublin to attend  the Audi Dublin International Film Festival.

The Sunshine, Inception and 28 Days Later star will be joined by Jack Reynor and director Ben Wheatley as they give Irish audiences a look at their adrenaline-pumping new film, Free Fire.

The film festival takes place on February 16 – 26, and we’ve no doubt that the Peaky Blinders man will be a huge attraction.

This being said, his new film looks like it has all the makings of an absolute cult-classic. Director Ben Wheatley is an incredibly talented filmmaker (Kill List, High-Rise, Sightseers, A Field in England) and his new feature is a gun-toting, 1970s-set crime caper that reminded us of Reservoir Dogs, Shoot ‘Em Up and the films of John Woo.

In Free Fire, Justine (Brie Larson) has brokered a meeting in a deserted warehouse between two Irishmen (Cillian Murphy, Michael Smiley) and a gang led by Vernon (Sharlto Copley) and Ord (Armie Hammer) who are selling them a stash of guns. But when shots are fired in the handover, a heart stopping game of survival ensues.

Take a look.
