Colin Farrell is stepping into the world of MMA in Guy Ritchie’s new crime film

Colin Farrell Guy Ritchie movie

The cast in this is pretty impressive.

There’s a school of thought that Brad Pitt’s boxer in Snatch can’t be bettered, but Guy Ritchie is going to give it a go because the director clearly has a thing for Irish characters that are decent with their hands.

On that note, the director of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels has just cast Colin Farrell in his new crime caper and the star of Phone Booth and In Bruges is going to be embracing his inner John Kavanagh,

The Hollywood Reporter says that the Irish actor will be playing a character called ‘Coach’ in Ritchie’s new film Toff Guys, and while details are vague, we’re told that he’s going to be a trainer of MMA fighters.

After the critical and commercial failure that was King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Ritchie is returning to the genre that he knows so well and he has assembled a pretty impressive cast for this one with Matthew McConaughey, Henry Golding, Hugh Grant and Jeremy Strong all featuring.

The story sees McConaughey playing a businessman who has built a weed empire but he now wants out. The other characters are either complications or allies to his scheme.

Michelle Dockery of Downton Abbey fame is playing McConaughey’s on-screen wife, while Golding will portray a Vietnamese gangster.

Grant, meanwhile, is a photographer who snaps scandalous photos of our protagonist and schemes to blackmail him.

Toff Guys has been described as a darkly comic “blend of Sexy Beast and Downton Abbey,” so we’re definitely intrigued.

At present, Farrell can be seen in your local cinema in Steve McQueen’s wonderful thriller Widows and he’s also involved with Disney’s live-action remake of Dumbo.

There’s truly no stopping Coddle Faddle…
