Comic-Con Roundup: Images from Avengers 2, trailer for The Hunger Games 3, news on Tarantino’s latest film and much, much more

Is it too much to ask that we see all of these films right now? This very minute? Please!?

Is it too much to ask that we see all of these films right now? This very minute? Please!?

JOE is always passionate, enthusiastic and geeky-cool when it comes to our love of movies. However, our fanboy levels reached fever pitch during Comic-Con over the past few days.

In our previous roundup and articles, we brought you… the trailers for Batman vs Superman: Dawn of JusticeMad Max: Fury Road, a first look at Wonder Woman and the much-welcomed news of a sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy (go see it when it’s released because we can assure you it’s brilliant and the great news is that writer and director, James Gunn, has already signed up for the next installment).

That’s not enough though. Why not start your day in the best possible way… with some Jennifer Lawrence. JOE are big admirers of the Oscar-winning actress and you can get a glimpse of her in the new trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1.

This time around we find Katniss in the once-thought lost District 13 of Panem after she, quite literally, shattered the games in the last film. Under the leadership of President Coin (Julianne Moore), Katniss has to save her little sister and help inspire a nation. No pressure there then.

The films are still a very entertaining rip-off of Battle Royale though, right?

Arguably the only man in the world who is more passionate about movies and pop culture than JOE also made an appearance at San Diego.

Quentin Tarantino confirmed that he is indeed going to press ahead and make his new Western, The Hateful Eight. The project had been thrown into doubt by Tarantino himself earlier in the year when he put it on the back burner after the screenplay to the movie was leaked.

Apparently QT plans on shooting the movie at the start of next year which means we could see it around Christams 2015. If it’s anything like Django Unchained then he already has our money.

Much like a mean ice cream man on a warm summer day, Marvel has continued to tease us with some delicious concept art from Avengers: Age of Ultron. We already had glimpses of some of the characters but, from the look of the image above, Captain America is going to be in for a rough ride next summer.

In other Marvel-related news, Ant-Man may have already lost a director in Edgar Wright (JOE loves that guy) but three cast members – Patrick Wilson, Matt Gerald and Kevin Weisman – have also walked out citing “scheduling conflicts”. Interesting.

Moving over to the DC Universe, although all the talk has been of Batman v Superman, one little snippet of news emerged from the forthcoming Justice League movie. Chris Terrio, who won an Oscar for his awesome Argo script , has apparently been hired to tackle a Justice League screenplay.

One of the most surprisingly enjoyable films that we saw in the last few years was Josh Crank’s found-footage superhero epic, Chronicle. We have since kept our eye on the talented director and his reboot of The Fantastic Four is shaping up nicely (Sweet Lord those first two movies were God-awful).

JOE was also pleasantly surprised to learn that Sam Raimi is planning an Evil Dead TV show along with his brother, Ivan, and Ash himself, Bruce Campbell. Grooooooovy.

It wouldn’t be Comic-Con though without an appearance from everyone’s favourite slacker, writer, comedian and Star Wars fan, Kevin Smith.

Silent Bob himself showed up to debut the trailer for his new film Tusk, a movie which stars Justin Long as a journalist who stumbles across a story about a man with an unhealthy obsession with walruses.

If that wasn’t enough to get you interested (we were sold after we heard the word walrus) then take a look at Haley Joel Osmond.

Yes, it appears that the little kid from the Sixth Sense is all grown up now. He still sees dead people though, right?

There will be plenty more breaking news, trailers and stories from Comic-Con and JOE will keep you right up to date as always.

Seriously, we don’t sleep.
