Wise up because this will be cracker.

In the interest of full disclosure, this particular writer adores Derry Girls but when it comes to the cool stakes, I’m about as sound as Jenny Joyce when she’s grassing on the gang!

This being said, like so many fans of Lisa McGee’s wonderful comedy, one of the main draws is the blistering ’90s soundtrack that features some absolute bangers.

On this note, it appears that a random tweet may have inspired one hell of a night in Cork.

Oh yes, if you’re living in Munster and love Derry Girls then you’re in luck because The Secret Garden Cork and The Hidden Attic, Hannover Street, Cork will be having an evening that’s solely dedicated to the beloved comedy.

What does this involve?

Well, do you fancy hearing some belting tunes that have featured in the show?

If you love the likes of Urban Cookie Collective -The Key, The Secret, Snow – Informer, Gina G – Ooh Aah Just A Little Bit, The Cranberries – Dreams, Ini Kamoze – Here Comes the Hotstepper, En Vogue & Salt-N-Pepa – Whatta Man, and so much more then this is for you.

Of course, we fully expect you and your gang to better James, Erin, Clare, Michelle, and Orla by nailing Whigfield’s ‘Saturday Night’ routine but that’s not all.

JOE has been informed that the venue will also be doing a version of ‘Rock the Boat’ and they’re hoping the crowd aren’t as rough as the girls were with poor cousin Eamon!

In terms of what fans can expect, the venue told JOE that “we’ll be playing tunes from the show from 11pm on the top floor of our building ‘The Secret Garden’. We’re also going to be launching a competition on Sunday where we’ll be giving away a table for 6 people for the night along with a suitcase of vodka (with mixers, because we’re not animals ) and we may brave raiding mammy’s Christmas stash to give some treats to attendees on the night as well”.

The evening takes place on Wednesday, 3 April from 23:00 and as the official post states: “grab your old school uniform or (jean jacket if you’re looking to be an individual), borrow some money from your trust fund, fill yourself a suitcase of vodka and if you have some weans find a sitter!”

In the immortal words of Michelle “sláinte motherf**kers!”
