Disney+ has just added the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, its reboot of Netflix's hit superhero action series Daredevil, which ran from 2015 to 2018.
The original Marvel show followed Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox, Kin), a lawyer who was blinded as a child in a chemical accident, leaving him with special abilities.
As an adult, Murdock uses his other heightened senses to become a vigilante dubbed Daredevil, who fights crime on the streets of New York after the sun goes down.
"While Murdock's day job requires him to believe in the criminal justice system, his alter ego does not follow suit, leading him to take the law into his own hands to protect his Hell's Kitchen neighbourhood and the surrounding communities," the Netflix plot synopsis read.
Daredevil was beloved upon release for its grittier tone than most Marvel projects, its visceral action and fight sequences, and its strong performances, particularly Vincent D'Onofrio (Full Metal Jacket) as Daredevil's nemesis, Wilson Fisk/Kingpin.
Disney+ continued the show's story with its reboot series, Daredevil: Born Again, which first premiered in 2025.
The revival begins with Murdock having given up his vigilante crime-fighting, while Fisk has gone from mob boss to New York mayoral candidate.
"When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course," the plot synopsis from Disney states.
Also featuring several other cast members from Netflix's Daredevil and other Marvel shows, Born Again has earned very positive reviews from critics.
In fact, its newly released season two currently holds a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
You can read a sample of the glowing reviews for Daredevil: Born Again S2 below:
The Direct: "The legal elements are capably developed and work well, and Season 2 builds toward a stunner of a conclusion. The entire cast turns in exceptional performances, with Cox, D'Onofrio, and [Deborah Ann] Woll giving some of their best yet."
Empire: "Thematically timely with some ferocious action to boot, Born Again’s second season largely hits the bullseye."
JoBlo's Movie Network: "Born Again‘s second season blends timely social commentary, top-notch action, and memorable characters into a fantastic run of television."
San Jose Mercury News: "A bulked-up Cox and a spittin’ mad D’Onofrio make for classic rivals in a series that leans fully into Shakespearean-powered themes about madness and power."
Seattle Times: "Across eight tightly paced episodes full of narrative momentum, we watch as Matt and his friends try to balance the scales of justice, no matter how futile it may seem."
