Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming documentary series all about former footballer David Beckham.
Titled Beckham, the show will arrive on the streaming service next month and promises to tell the "inside story of a global football star and cultural icon".
Netflix to release David Beckham documentary series.
The plot synopsis for the project from Netflix reads:
"David Beckham is one of the most known names on the planet, yet few people know who he really is.
"From his humble working-class beginnings in east London, his drive and determination to win, and the battle to find balance between ambition, love and family, David’s story is one of immense ups and downs.
"The series takes you on that rollercoaster and builds a surprising, personal and definitive story of one of the most recognisable and scrutinised athletes of all time."
First announced last year, the documentary series is directed by Oscar winner Fisher Stevens (Before the Flood, The Cove, Palmer) and produced by Oscar winner John Battsek (The Imposter, One Day in September, Searching for Sugar Man).
According to Netflix, the pair were granted "unprecedented access to David, his wife Victoria, his family, his friends and his team-mates".
The streaming service said the result of this is an "intimate portrait of a man, as well as a chronicle of late-modern sports and celebrity culture".
Comprising of four 60-minute episodes, Beckham lands on Netflix on 4 October.
