Descendant, a 2025 sci-fi movie with a high 88% Rotten Tomatoes score, is finally getting a UK/Ireland release.
As his visions blur the line between dreams and reality, Sean's grip on his sanity unravels. With time running out, "he must confront his fears to escape his family's tragic legacy".
In February, JOE spoke to Bolger on the IFTA red carpet, where we asked her about the sci-fi.
In response, she told us: "That movie is incredible. Playing a role like that, with the Rustic Films [Benson and Moohead's production company] people, who did some of the most incredible sci-fi mind-bending projects you can possibly imagine… I think those filmmakers are very cool and they made just such a sleek sci-fi drama."
Horror streaming service Shudder has since confirmed that Descendant will get an Irish/UK release on the platform next month on 10 September.

Released in the United States last August, the film follows Sean (Ross Marquand - Avengers: Infinity War, The Walking Dead, X-Men '97), a school security guard and father-to-be, haunted by childhood trauma. After a beam of light appears in the sky during a late-night shift, he wakes up in the hospital with an inexplicable talent for vivid, unsettling drawings of extraterrestrials and desert landscapes.
Descendant is produced by Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson, the duo behind such cult indie mind-bending sci-fi films as The Endless, Spring, and Synchronic. The movie also stars Irish actress Sarah Bolger (Agent Carter, In America, The Westies) as Andrea, Sean's wife, who grows concerned for her husband's well-being.
