Disney+ has just added 12 very big movies

Rory Cashin

War epics, scary horrors, award-winning biopics and sunny rom-coms are all on the menu.

Disney Plus has just added a dozen movies to its library, should you be in the mood for something to watch this evening.

Starting with…

ENEMY AT THE GATES

Jude Law and Ed Harris star in this tense WWII thriller about two snipers on opposing sides of the war, facing off against each other.

GRIMCUTTY

When nobody believes that a teenage girl is being attacked by what is otherwise known as an internet meme, she must take it upon herself to prove to everyone that the monster is real. 0% on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing…

KINSEY

Liam Neeson headlines this biopic drama about Alfred Kinsey, one of the pioneers into the topic of modern sexuality.

L.A. CONFIDENTIAL

One of the greatest crime movies ever made, with an all-star cast (Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, Kim Basinger, Danny DeVito, Kevin Spacey, James Cromwell) telling the story of how police corruption gets tied up with the world of celebrity in 1950s Hollywood.

MAN ON FIRE

Denzel Washington plays the personal bodyguard on a rampage of revenge when his young ward (Dakota Fanning) is kidnapped.

MATRIARCH

After an overdose, a woman is afflicted with a mysterious disease, so she decides to head back to her childhood home to deal with her personal demons. But while there, she crosses paths with some actual demons… 83% on Rotten Tomatoes, just FYI.

RED SPARROW

An underrated spy thriller, with Jennifer Lawrence the trained-for-this Russian spy who attempts to entrap a CIA agent (Joel Edgerton).

RULES DON’T APPLY

In 1958 Hollywood, Lily Collins plays a young actress who starts a relationship with her driver (Alden Ehrenreich), much to the chagrin of famed director Howard Hughes (played by Warren Beatty).

SPIDER-MAN 3

The worst of the Spider-Man movies is still entertaining in its own, unique way.

STREET KINGS

The writer of Training Day tries to recapture that magic with a great cast (Keanu Reeves, Forest Whitaker, Hugh Laurie, Chris Evans), but it doesn’t get quite close enough to it.

UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN

The always-charming Diane Lane plays a recent divorcee who heads to Tuscany in order to sort out of writer’s block.

VENOM

Tom Hardy embodies the black goop anti-hero with gusto. It isn’t great, but it is fun.
