We certainly weren't expecting this of a Friday night.
As you will no doubt be aware, Fred West was a serial killer known to have committed at least 12 murders between 1967 and 1987, the majority of which were committed with his second wife, Rosemary West.
Their now notorious (and thankfully demolished) home at 25 Cromwell Street was the scene of horrendous attacks and abuse, and where they discarded the bodies of their victims.
In 1995, Fred West committed suicide in his cell whilst on remand at Winson Green Prison, Birmingham, and it is safe to say his passing was not mourned. He was a truly evil and callous man.
So it's absolutely understandable that some Corrie fans settling down to their Friday fix of the Weatherfield soap were somewhat taken aback by what they saw as West's visage on their screens.
The 'sighting' took place during a scene at the home of characters Sharif and Yasmeen Nazir, where a framed photograph on the mantlepiece looked - to some at least - eerily like the serial killer.
As much as Corrie likes to court controversy and capture the nation's attention, we reckon it's a case of mistaken identity.
