WATCH: Westmeath Rose squats with Dáithí Ó Sé on her back

Carl Kinsella

Westmeath Rose

Did I actually just see this happen with my own two eyes?

Tonight is the opening night of Ireland’s beloved Rose of Tralee International Festival, and Irish viewers everywhere are glued to their screens.

A showcase of Irish strangeness, the Rose of Tralee never fails to generate talking points, and they’ve started early this year. The Westmeath Rose, Leanne Quinn, has amazed viewers across Ireland by squatting with presenter Dáithí Ó Sé, a full-sized man, across her back. While wearing a ball gown.

Quinn talked a clearly quite terrified Ó Sé through the procedure and some escorts/spotters were on hand to help the host onto her back and prevent any injuries. But sure enough, she was able to do it, no problem. We suspect that this particular skill is going to stay in the minds of voters when it comes time to give their opinion on who’s to win the contest.

Needless to say, everyone on social media was absolutely loving it.
