We are 100% in favour of all of this.

Almost two years to the day, JOE chatted to Tom Holland in the lead-up to the release of Spider-Man: Homecoming, and we played Dream Casting, asking the actor who he would want to play the villain in the sequel, and what villain they would play.

Looking back, it is oddly prophetic how close Holland’s answers were, as he chose Mysterio (the new addition to Spider-Man: Far From Home), to be played by Woody Harrelson (who popped up at the end of Venom, setting up his character Carnage for the upcoming sequel).

Holland has already revealed to us that he would love to share the screen with Tom Hardy for a potential Venom/Spidey crossover, but since he was so good at predicting the last time, we asked again who he would like to see added to the Spidey threequel.

And considering Homecoming had him team up with Tony Stark, and Far From Home pairs him with Nick Fury, we wanted to know which other MCU member he reckons would be a good fit for the Spidey-verse.

“I would really like to do a team-up with Peter Parker and Shuri from Black Panther,” Holland tells us.

“I think they would have a really, really cool little duo going on. I think Ned would be a little bit jealous of the science stuff, and I think [MJ] and Shuri would be besties.”

“I personally would love to work with Emily Blunt. I’m a huge fan of hers. And I don’t know why I’m like I really think it would be cool to have a female villain in the next film. And I’ve never really seen Emily Blunt play a villain.

“And also, in the film with Tom Cruise she did [Edge Of Tomorrow] she is a serious badass. And I feel like she could be a great villain.”

Holland doesn’t go as far as naming which villain Blunt may play, but the obvious choice would be Black Cat, which strays (get it? Cat? Strays?) a little too close to Catwoman for our liking.

That being said, they could go the way of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse and gender swap one of the iconic villains, as was the case with Kathryn Hahn playing Doc Ock.

Zendaya and Jacob Batalon also gave some very interesting choices in who they would like to see added to the next Spider-Man movie, and you can check out our interview with the gang in full right here:

JOE also chatted to Nick Fury himself (better known as Samuel L. Jackson), who revealed which action star he’s excited about joining the MCU, as well as just how much he knows about that Black Widow standalone movie.

Check that interview out in full here.

Meanwhile, Spider-Man: Far From Home is in Irish cinemas right now.
